Great Products – Simple,Adaptable,Easy to Use

The Million Dollar question I always ask myself is what makes a product a Great Product? And what are the metrics to measure a Great Product?

Here is my version definition of Great Product   – “A product which solves a particular problem efficiently and users with little or no consciousness always choose that product whenever they need the solution to that particular problem “.

The most successful products of today become part of our life and fit right into our routine.

In this blog I want to use the most popular and widespread product in the current market that is used extensively as an example of Great Product, yes probably most of you have already guessed by now  – “A Smart Phone”.

According to different trending studies on an average the typical smartphone user checks their phone almost 150 times per day in the USA and in some other countries like the UK the figure goes to astounding 220 times a day.

The above stats explain one thing clearly the stickiness of the product. OK, the next question is what is stickiness and its importance for the success of the product.

Stickiness is the characteristic of the product which indicates the metric to measure the loyalty of the user to the product or user/subscriber retention.

“The degree to which the existing use of a product or service encourages its continued use as opposed to that of a competitor. Also called lock-in.”

Next question you might have is “what dictates stickiness?” Ease of use the product /intuitive (self-descriptive) most of the users would like a product where user doesn’t need to go through the big manual to figure out a simple feature, because we as common user don’t like Manuals and instructions, most of us like to get the product out of the box and start using.
